Below is not just a history lesson, it is about to become reality — a harsh reality that is about to swallow America.
In 1838, at the age of 28, Abraham Lincoln gave a speech to a group of young men in Springfield, Illinois.
The speech, titled “The Perpetuation of Our Political Institutions”, was about the role of citizens in a constitutional republic and the threats facing America’s political system.
In the speech, Lincoln said:
“Shall we expect some transatlantic military giant, to step the Ocean, and crush us at a blow? Never!
All the armies of Europe, Asia and Africa combined, with all the treasure of the earth (our own excepted) in their military chest; with a Buonaparte for a commander, could not by force, take a drink from the Ohio, or make a track on the Blue Ridge, in a trial of a thousand years.”
Then Lincoln asked his audience:
“At what point then is the approach of danger to be expected?”
“I answer, if it ever reach us, it must spring up amongst us. It cannot come from abroad. If destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher. As a nation of freemen, we must live through all time, or die by suicide.”
If Lincoln could see this at 28, 22 years before he became president and nearly 185 years ago, why can’t so many Americans see it today?
The “destruction” of America will not come from foreign powers, but mainly from citizens who let their guard down. So, for America’s constitutional republic to endure and not collapse from within, every citizen must take responsibility.
Lincoln’s insight back then matches the slogan “local action, national impact” that America’s patriotic community is calling for today. The American people played the deciding role 185 years ago, and they do again at this critical moment.
To learn more about the constitutional republic, and what Americans should have done (and did not do) as the communist tide swept into America over the past 70-plus years, we invite you to watch the film “The Great Awakening”
